Matrix Norwest Christmas Bulletin – 2022 Highlights

A Christmas message from Our Board

‘It’s the most wonderful time of the year.’

– Edward Pola and George Wyle

As the end of another year quickly approaches, and with all of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, we wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas. We look forward to returning next year to all that 2023 has in store.

Our office will be closed for the holidays from Tuesday, 20 December 2022 and we will re-open on Monday, 9 January 2023.

As we close the year, we would like to celebrate some of the highlights of 2022.

Stay safe and see you in the New Year.

Best Regards,
Matthew Stevenson, Alison Stevenson, Lachlan Sue and Rob Pedersen

2022 – A Year in Review

Our Team Continued to Grow
Our staff numbers reached the twenties as we welcomed Henry Rao, Gail Gardener, Ying Dai and Jenny Hur to our office. Our growth in numbers this year ensures that we can continue to operate at the highest standard. Our team is at the core of our ability to provide quality service.

We Doubled Down on Our Commitment to Development
With a larger team, we maintained our commitment to broadening our cohesion through team building exercises and the use of HBDI team profile mapping. We continued to work closely with Brainbiz CEO and long-term Matrix client, Sylvia Vorhauser-Smith, to ensure we operate efficiently as a team by exploring our team thinking preferences and working on potential deficiencies. We also invested time and energy into our software stack to ensure that our practice can deliver industry leading tax and financial advice.

Introducing Matrix Integrated Professional Advice
May 2022 saw us leave the Centrepoint Alliance Dealer Group and forge a new path with our own financial services licensee. The move was a big step towards offering our clients boutique, tailored strategies. More than 6 months in and we are already reaping the benefits of the self-licence change while continuing to roll out quality advice.

We Congratulated Alison – once again
Following her Tax Adviser of the Year Award in 2021, Alison was subsequently elected as the Chair of State Council NSW within the Tax Institute. Alison continues to be an exemplary leader for Matrix Norwest and ensures that our business remains on the pulse with regulatory and legislative tax change.

Our Investment Committee Underwent Transformation
The framework around its operation has been improved which has heightened responsiveness and the fluidity of committee governance. We also bolstered the economic expertise with the addition of a new asset consultant to ensure our portfolios deliver quality to investors.

The Pedersen legacy continues to grow
Rob’s recovery from his health setback continues to gather momentum, with the challenges of 2021 having been met. After an emotional and tumultuous 18 months, we are pleased to see Rob finally make good on his commitment to reduce his workload and spend more time with travel, golf, and family. November saw Isabella Pedersen welcomed into the world and with great excitement, we await the arrival of grandchild number 5 – a Rainbow in mid-2023.

We Celebrated as Lachlan Said ‘I Do’
After almost nine years together, and some COVID setbacks in the last couple of years, Lachlan and Kimberley finally tied the knot last month.

It has been a year full of challenges and triumphs but as we grow, we are looking forward to a bigger, better and stronger 2023.
